HP INK TANK 319 (wired USB) on macOS Sequoia 15.1.1

Team at APPLE Inc.,

I have downloaded

  • Install HP Easy Start
  • 2.15.0.240923
  • 10.8 MB
  • Nov 12, 2024
  • AND THE LISTED FIRMWARE,

  1. Now after the installation, the program runs, finds the printer, but states: NO SOFTWARE/DRIVER FOUND? I tried installing the printer manually using the printer tab under settings, but that installs a generic laserprint driver, which does not send the print jobs to the tray. There is a HP 319 firmware updater, from 2018, which is unable to find a new firmware for this said printer.
  2. I removed the generic printer, reset the printer settings, and attempted to re-run the HP EASY START, again the same issue, it cannot locate any driver or software for the 319 series. I rebooted, reset the printer settings, under the settings tab, unplugged and fastened the usb cable back to the mac, still the same, no software or driver found in their HP EASY APP.
  3. Later, I tried the HP SMART, that is unable to detect the printer at all, it is asking for a WIFI or BLUETOOTH CONNECTIVETY to find the printer. HP EASY START and MAC PRINTER TAB can detect this printer as 310 HP, but the smart fails.

I have a functional USB PRINTER/SCANNER that which works on my several Microsoft SURFACE, and other Microsoft WINDOWS COMPUTERS.

HP sent a technician over, and he claimed this is an apple issue. Let me elaborate, all the other printers from Cannon, and brother connect and work as they do over Surface and other windows devices. None of the HP printers at my firm or home office are connecting to MAC with OS 15.1.1

I do not see this as an Apple issue, but HP-technical support (outsourced) is refraining from accepting accountability. The only resource I have left is to delegate my department to start the litigation filing against HP.

These are 2 year old. I can't discard 11 of these. These ink tanks are cheaper than our previous lasers. After a 9 year hiatus, I switched over from Surface to imac. The whole point was to use mac os for work, for the whole firm, and pc for my personal Forza and Flight simulator games. For the past few days, our team has been working from their new apple PCs and were printing from the old surface tablets. Apple has no answer, nor does HP.

Tech support from both sides was not up to my expectations.

Apple technician came after two consecutive appointment scheduling, to setup the machines for us. When the printers failed to connect, he recommended to contact HP.

HP technician, blamed everything on the latest 15.1.1 and stated there was nothing he could do.

I was duped by an Apple sales executive and a HP sales executive, both convincing and dumping their devices on the firm. Neither of them were there during the setup, since it happened 2-years apart. The Microsoft surface support is better in india, in comparison to Apple and HP. Manners wise, Apple is superior, but knowledge was lacking.

On a side note (off topic), I found third party thunderbolt 5 and 4 drives for storage expansion, I beleive I will have to order those.

My associates have an air/wireless type of printer, allegedly it is working on their personal (non-firm sponsored) mac laptops. I am still hanging on to my old surface batches, until one of the organisation throws a resolution.

Was there ever any driver set higher than HP 5.1.1 available after year 2020?

A mediocre work around:

Download

  1. HP 5.1.1 Printer Software Update - Apple Support
  2. https://www.charlessoft.com/

Steps:

  1. Use the program from #2 in the download section to extract the dmg file from #1.
  2. Install the package from Download #1, using the app from Download#2.
  3. Under Mac settings app, go to Printers and scanners, and click on Add printers on the right side.
    1. After the add printer pop up appears,
      1. pick your printer from the top list, and under the drop-down menu go to 'USE' and pick the relevant printer/scanner model and manufacturer (in case it is not listed, pick the closest model and give it a trial, this worked for my situation at the firm).

Don't use HP software, it's garbage. By the way, I worked for HP's printer division for years.

All you need is Add a printer to your Wi-Fi network in AirPort Utility on Mac - Apple Support

If the device is not supported any longer for the version of Mac OS you have installed, this is HP's (Canon, Epson etc... all do the same) way of telling you to buy a new printer.

HP is responsible for supporting their printers. A common misconception is thinking that Apple and Microsoft develop drivers for third party peripherals, they DO NOT. The fact that you cannot find a driver for you device is something to take up with HP, however I think you are headed up a dead end street.

As mentioned we are all end users just like you and we specialize in Macs and Mac OS not HP,it's devices and specifically NOT their software. I understand your frustration, not terribly uncommon especially it seems with HP products. By the way, again please read the Terms of Use you agreed to, please don't rant it does no good on these forums and off topic.
