AirPod 2 microphone really low volume.

I had this problem too. Went through resetting and reconnecting and it didn’t help but then tried switching microphone from automatic to left then right. Left had the issue, right didn’t. Automatic then did work but not as well as right. So have left it set to right and it seems fine now. But it does seem like this problem is due to the microphone processing trying to remove background noise and getting it all wrong. For instance while testing I noticed a background sound was louder than my muffled voice for a brief moment. There’s definitely something wrong with the processing. But for now setting it to right seems to fix it.
