Coping with Photos in iOS 18

Has anyone figured out how to do a decent slideshow on iPad Pro with the new Photos app in iOS 18? In iOS 17 and earlier versions there were consistent, smooth, reasonably-slow dissolve transitions, a selection of lengths of time for showing each photo, and none of the jerky, gimmicky juxtapositions. I use my photos for slideshows to view family, travel, and landscape shots I have taken that have meaning and memories, and that I spent a lot of time taking, selecting, and editing. Using Airplay, I play them on an iPad that is connected to a large monitor in our in-home “office” where we spend a lot of time, so that I am often enjoying several of them in a row, and commenting on them with my wife. With the current version of photos, there is often too little time to tell what the image is recalling before the next pick or collage of chopped photos roughly replaces it. I tried one for-sale slideshow app but couldn’t get it to replicate the previous experience with Photos. Actually, I’ve focused my editing over the past few years on using the old Photos slideshow (thousands of pics), and I cannot now play them on the app in any watchable way.
