Airpods Pro2 losing Bluetooth connection to iPhone

I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max running iOS 18.1. When I haven't used my Airpods Pro2 with the phone for a day or two it will not connect. I try to reset using button on back of the Airpods case but it does not connect. However, if I turn off the phone and turn on the phone again and then use the reset button on the back of the Airpods case, then I can get it to connect. This is tiresome and it never used to do this. It seems it has been happening for about 5-6 months now. Is it time to replace them, or is a fix for this issue in the works?
