iPad Air: Fitness app stuck displaying Fitness+ advertisement

My Fitness icon redirects to the Fitness+ promotional screen rather than the app that displays my accumulated fitness data like my iphone does. I can’t get to my Summary screen, or at least I have found no swipe or option that allows that. Other users have also had this problem, with no easily found fix from apple yet identified.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, no luck. Other users have not been able to get past it either I am afraid. Please provide a response that helps us to use our devices for Fitness without the fitness+ advertisement.
