Get Apple Mail to show Date Sent, not Date Received

If I turn on "Use Column Layout" and show the "Date Received" and "Date Sent" columns, I can see the emails in my inbox have the correct data extracted from the headers.

But I don't use Column Layout, and in both the Preview pane and the Message View pane (and individual Message windows for that matter), the date shown is "Date Received". That's not useful information for me, since the time of the POP is arbitrary, is sometimes well after the email is sent, and is often done in batches.

Is it possible to get Mail to show the "Date Sent" value, without having to use Column Layout?
