Can I set up my iPad mini 7 without transferring data?

Hi, Got a new iPad Mini 7 How can I avoid transferring everything from my old iPad/Cloud I want to start fresh without changing my Apple ID if possible ?

Up to now no joy. Apple Support no proper answer. One said Yes I can Other said need a New Apple ID ?

Setup with no data transfer as said by Apple Support, but has downloaded Photos, Notes, Contacts & So on. A lot of Apps/Emails that I want to add need adding ie YouTube , Smart IPTV etc, Which is what I wanted to do in the first place ie My Choice

I was after a Clean new iPad to set up with what I wanted to add

don’t think it can be done Without a new ID Or Can it

Cheers Al

ps I plan on keeping my old iPad which I can use as is Plus Works with my IPhone

hence An uncluttered new iPad ha

Do not delete anything if you have the iCloud options in Settings ➜ Apple ID ➜ iCloud. If you do, those deletions will sync to iCloud and delete the data from there too. Unless that is what you want.

Also, make sure you have iCloud Photos turned off ion Settings ➜ Apps ➜ Photos as otherwise any photos you delete will be deleted from iCloud too.

Sort of.

If you choose not to use backup to set it up and just log in with the Apple ID, it will not transfer all data and files, but will start to sync things from iCloud like notes, email, contacts etc... if those options are turned on.

Apps unfortunately are set to download from the App Store automatically, you cannot choose what downloads. You can delete any you don't want after the fact though.

What you can do, is not log in with an Apple ID at all when asked, and then when set up is complete, log in to your Apple ID in Settings and turn every iCloud option off at that point.

To avoid the Apple ID log in, choose "Forgot Password or don't have an account?", and then "Setup Later".

Once setup is complete, you can go into settings and Log in with your Apple account and turn all options off.

Then you can choose what apps you want to download, by manually downloading them from your App Store history.

Thank you Phil👍.

I did just use Apple ID Via Apple Support yet it Still downloaded Photos on top of as you said notes/contact's ..I believe I just need to delete the Photos and anything else I don’t want.

It just surprises my how much was actually downloaded when setting up I was under the impression it would be reasonable clean 🤷🏻‍♂️

Regarding the Apps not many did download. I’m downloading the ones I want manually

Thank you again Phil 👍 will get there in the end

Hiya

Just seen your message now Phil.

Your right deletes from iCloud. What I did was delete a few pics then checked on the older iPad mini 5 “had a feeling that would happen like you’ve said

I did turn off iCloud Photos but I got Apple Support to go though it with me then just put a few back on Via iCloud .. it’s a bit of messing about if your not sure what your doing like me 🤷🏻‍♂️

Thanks again for your help 👍 it’s a learning curve for me for sure
