I am struggling to download the default applications such as music, calculator, podcasts in my new iPhone but other external applications are downloading with no problems.

Normally those apps are pre-installed and don't need to be downloaded.
What happens when you try to download them exactly?
Do you get an error? If so, what does it say?
They were appearing on the home screen but they would be dark the way an app looks when it has not downloaded or is due for download or update, i updated the iOS and the problem was fixed. Thank you.
