Unable to create folders in my DMG file on MacBook Pro

I have created a .dmg which I can access after password entry. OK so far. But I cannot create a folder in it even though it is R/W to me. Am I right in assuming I must have everything I need in there as folders and files before I protect the folder? Thanks.

OK, thanks. This time I selected a folder to protect and that worked.

Yes, it will create the disk image, but the max size of that image will be just a little more than the existing data in the folder.

You can set a blank image to any size. It will only take up the total amount of data in the folder, but will allow you to add up to the maximum size you set.
