How can I reset USB hub recognition in macOS 15.1 ?
I have a Satechi Ethernet / USB hub — ST-TCMA2M, Satechi USB C Hub Multiport Adapter V2, USB C Docking Station with 4K HDMI, 60W USB C PD Charging, 3 USB-A, Ethernet, Micro/SD Card Readers, for MacBook Pro/Air M1 M2 M3).
It's was working fine right up until a few hours ago.
I primarily use it for Ethernet connection to my MacBook Air M1, with macOS 15.1. It has been fine for the past 3.5 years, other than a minor issue when coming out of sleep (occasionally).
Today I rebooted my computer, and after this the hub was no longer recognised by the system. Therefore, no Ethernet connection. This has happened quite a few times over the years, typically after coming out of sleep, but would only require unplugging the hub and plugging it back in to resolve. This time around, no amount of plugging in and out made any difference. I've since rebooted the system many times, and the hub is not recognised / doesn't show up in the system. I figured the hub had spontaneously failed and died.
It does, however, work fine when I plug it into my phone. No issues at all. So this appears to be a macOS issue.
I have tried deleting the "Service" in Network settings, and recreating the service. Oddly, the hub does show up as an available service. Yet once added and actived, it does nothing.
Is there any way to completely reset macOS's association with this device? So that it's compelely refreshed, as if plugging it in for the first time?
Or, is there any other way I might get macOS to recognise the hub, as it was previously?
Thank you.
