Bright - Learning English is scam
On November 9, 2024, I downloaded the Bright app and around 5 p.m, the first time I used the app, immediately The app prompted me to register with the promise of a 7-day free trial. However, upon subscribing, I was immediately charged and my subscription began without the trial period.
At this point, I had no evidence to prove that the app initially promised a 7-day free trial, which should have started on November 16. To verify this issue, I used a friend’s Apple account to redownload the app on the same day. When registering through this account, the app again displayed the offer for a 7-day free trial with the subscription set to begin on November 16.
I thoroughly reviewed the subscription options in the app and found only two options—monthly and yearly plans—both clearly marked with a free trial before registration. There is no fully paid, trial-free subscription option as the developer described on the app’s information page. This discrepancy suggests that users may be misled by the developer’s description on the App Store.
I urge Apple to perform a user-based test by signing into and subscribing to the app, as a user would, to better understand this deceptive practice. As a long-time Apple user, I have never encountered such an unreasonable charge before. I am aware that many users may forget to cancel and thus incur charges, but this situation is entirely different.
Thank you for your assistance in investigating this matter.
