Delete mailbox on iPhone

I have a work email account based on Gmail that I want to delete. When I clicked ‘Edit’ and selected the account, there was no option to delete it. I tried several times, and now there’s a grayed-out checkmark next to the account, making it seem like it’s frozen. I’m using an iPhone XS running iOS 18.1. Any advice would be appreciated!
