Apple Mail Quits When Sending to Print

Apple mail has been funky for a while—often freezing or hesitating while using it. But I can live with that.

What I can't live with is the sudden "Quit Unexpected" message that's now occurring when I send a message to a (hard-wired) printer. this just began a couple of days ago.

I searched this community and found an answer that's a few years old ~ had to do with eliminating a corrupted file in the V4 folder under Library/mail. On my computer, the V4 folder was empty but the V10 folder was full and I just deleted the whole thing.

I reopened Mail and let it download messages from the various servers I use. Thinking that the problem had been fixed, I opened a message then hit "Print" .... Boom! Mail crashed.

What could possibly be going on?

I'm on a MacBook Pro running Ventura 13.7 (note: I recently upgraded to Ventura thinking it would solve Mail issues).

Actually, I installed Ventura a few weeks ago for other reasons and Mail worked just fine up until two days ago.

I actually "zipped" the V10 folder so have all of the info intact. However, I've already re-downloaded current mail from the servers and don't really see the need to return the files that were in the V10 folder.

I'll add that I can still print fine from other applications and directly from websites - it's just Mail that's a problem.

Edited to Add: I just logged out of my primary identity on the laptop and into a second account that I'd set up. There's no problem with printing from Mail there. Looks like it must be a preference or some wonky thing in my primary account. I'm not tech-savvy enough to find it, though ...
