I received a batch of images by email, most taken on the close to the date sent but some are missing in Photos on my iPad after transfer. Other have similar problems and i may have an ansewer and wish to reply.

I doubt that you can depend on some email systems, or messages, or social media to preserve accurate metadata in image files. The best way to be pretty sure the metadata remains intact is to first, make sure it's correct in the original, and then compress the images into an archive type file like Apple's dmg disk image format.
