Using a fully updated iPhone 13 to stream Apple Music into 12 fully updated Sonos speakers through a fully updated Fritzbox 7590 router the phone’s EQ has no effect on the treble, bass or midrange. Streaming via Bluetooth or the Dock Connector, the EQ works like it is supposed to. The EQ works fine on my old iPhone 7.

at first I didn't want to believe it, but after trying it out, I have to agree. I can't change the sound with the equalizer in the iPhone 13pro. It works with Bluetooth.
My setup is almost the same: Fritz!Box and Sonos speakers. The firmware of the devices is up to date.
However, I prefer to change the EQ in the speakers and headphones.

Using just the Sonos app equalizer does not compare to using the Apple iPhone equalizer and the Sonos app equalizer together. I use an old iPhone 7 set to treble boost and the sound is remarkably clear.
I’ve contacted both Sonos and Apple about this and each company blamed the other until I finally got a hold of a high-level technician who ran several diagnostics tests on my phone, which showed “instability” but they neither specified what that meant nor what could be done to resolve the problem.
