Apple TV and devices as remote

Since upgrading to 4K Apple box last year, the whole family has been struggling with using iPhone/ipad as remotes.

This only affects typing function when searching.

it doesn’t matter if in an app or main search, it just drops out.

you get about 2 seconds to type in on the keyboard then it drops.

what the tv screen search shows rarely relates to the last search you tried. Generally 1 or 2 previous searches.

you then have to delete the text and try again, with also only 2 seconds to complete.

This is same in YouTube, Netflix, movie search etc.

we have latest versions on iPhone 13/15’s and new iPads so no software issue.

The Apple TV has been wiped and reset several times.

I asked at a Apple Store and they had no answers other than reinstalling.

The supplier (JBHIFI) also had no answers.

Im assuming it is a hardware issue as it is dropping connection to the remote or its being interrupted.

everything else works fine.
