Custom Tranparecy mode keeps turning off

Just bought Airpods pro 2 this weekend. Main reason I bought them is to enhance my hearing in some settings. The problem is when I try to turn on custom transparency mode, it keeps turning off within 2-5 seconds. I saw an old thread that had no solution but one comment that said he returned his, got another pair and the problem wasn't there with the new ones. Does anyone know what's going on?


To be clear, I'm talking about when you go to settings/Accessibility/Audio & Visual/Headphone Accommodations/Transparency Mode/Custom Transparency Mode, I turn that ON, it keeps turning OFF.


Am I doing something wrong? Do I have to play the buy/return game with these or is this an ongoing problem that hasn't been resolved as the comments I've read show this has been going on since 2023?

I had this same problem and was finally able to resolve it when IOS 18.1 was released. I am using my pods with the Apple 13 pro.


Before 18.1, the product was a big fail for me, at least in terms of helping with my hearing. Resetting my phone did not help. Exchanging the pods did not help. The new software release did.
