App assigned to a Desktop 2 opens in different Desktop

Good day, I have started using desktops to try and organize Personal vs Work.

I have assigned an app i the dock to open in Desktop 2 but it opens in Desktop 3. I have only created Desktop 1 and 2 - so there isn't a 3 until the app opens up.

Why?! ☺️

Oh, nevermind, I had checked "Assign to desktop on display 2" misunderstanding what it meant.

So all good now.

But, is there a way to keep desktop icons separate from Desktop 1 and Desktop 2?

I am not sure I understand the question. If you mean the icons on your Desktop, those represent the files that exist in your Desktop folder, so you can't have different icons, as that would be like having two different folders, say "Desktop 1" and "Desktop 2" inside your home folder.

But if you want, say, to have the Desktop icons appearing in Desktop 1, but not appearing in Desktop 2, then that is possible. Just assign Finder to run in Desktop 1. The Desktop icons are there because that's what the Finder does. If the Finder is not running, or in not running the active Desktop, then there are no icons.
