Ipod Touch 2nd ios 4.2.1 HDMI connector unlock

Hello, I found my old iPod Touch 2nd with IOS 4.2.1 that has a broken backlight. I bought a 32 pin to HDMI connector but the screen does not play. I read that it could be a software limitation because from the settings it says that it has recognized it. What can I do?
