Hi everybody, I have a 2022 iMac with OS Monterey 12.2.1. I might be being a bit dim here but does anybody know if you can install a DVD player software on this operating system? This is so you can play a DVD via an external DVD drive? or will I just have to watch DVDs on my TV like in the old days? Thanks!

FWIW, there was no 2022 iMac and Monterey was updated to 12.5.7. You should at least update Monterey. As far as DVDs, the only special software you would need is to play Blu-Ray disks.

OMG. I bought it literally two years ago and it’s out of date! Ok, I’ll try playing a normal DVD later and update the thread with the results. I couldn’t find the DVD player app in the applications folder. That’s why I asked. Thanks again!
Actually the last version of Monterey is 12.7.6. So Gareth's system is even more out of date.

Ok, that worked. It opened DVD player automatically when I put the DVD in! I couldn’t find the app in the Applications folder! It just appeared from nowhere! Thanks again.
