Pages jiggling in 'Pages' and in Canva

I am using iMac 2021 with Sonoma.

I use canva and pages to do intricate work and illustration.

The pages constantly jiggle making it almost impossible to work.

At first I thought it was the applications, but it must be the system...or/and the mouse?

Is there a different mouse that would help? Or mouse pad?

What is it?

I have had to abandon my old iMac which has served me so well and been reliable and stable...because canva no longer works on Yosemite.

But it's not working on Sonoma either! This is a jiggling mess!

Even as I write in this forum box, there is a bit of jiggling...

I find myself unconsciously placing two hands on the mouse sometimes to try and stabilise the system, which has no effect whatsoever!

I have no idea what actually to do!

I am feeling quite desperate as I am now beginning to dread doing my work.

any advice gratefully received!

TIA

Is this a current Apple Magic Mouse II, an older third-party mouse, or a Wacom input device?

If this is a Magic Mouse II, you may need to blow dust from the infrared sensor port on the bottom or clean the two runners on the underside of the mouse. If it is an Apple Magic Mouse I (battery-powered), then just throw it away and upgrade to the Magic Mouse II. A rough surface can make mouse input erratic.

What you describe should not be happening and I certainly have no experience with that here with Pages v14.2 on macOS Sonoma v14.7 or on Sequoia v15.0.1. I am using a Magic Mouse II (yes, lightning port) and the hard, smooth surface of an Anthrocart table.

Does the "wiggling" and hands-off application creep up the screen issues occur after a shutdown and reboot?

Have you installed any anti-virus or so-called Mac "cleaning" tools before this problem began? Other recent third-party application installations just prior to this issue? If you do not have Canva running, does Pages still behave like this?

Once you have rebooted, was there any change?

I have never had any issues with Macs that were purchased directly from Apple's refurbished store here in the U.S. You have one in the UK too. These Macs come in factory new packaging and have been wiped of all previous user information and a fresh operating system installation has been performed requiring initial setup steps such as country, language, user name, password, etc. If that was not your experience from where you purchased your Mac, that should be a red flag.

I would schedule time at an Apple Store, or Apple Authorized Service Center to have them assess what is wrong with your Mac. Perform one last Time Machine backup before you take it in as they may wipe the drive and perform a clean installation of macOS. Be prepared to show your ID and proof of your Mac purchase.

Hello.

And thank you for your reply.

It is a Magic Mouse II as it is charged with a lightning cable?

I will try cleaning it more thoroughly than I do at present.

Are there recommended mouse pads that might help?

Incidentally, this morning, while working on a multi page-document in pages, the whole thing was jiggling so much as I tried to make corrections, that I just stopped. I let go of the mouse. I didn't touch the keyboard.

The document continued to jiggle its way up the screen for several seconds? Until the top page began to disappear from view. It was the oddest thing.

I feel like there its a real issue here somewhere...it is so severe.

Could the mouse be faulty? Or is it nothing to do with the mouse?

Thank you again for your help.

Hi.

Thank you again for your time...and your message.

Are you suggesting that anti virus or Mac cleaning tools may be contributing to the problem?

I bought this Mac as a refurbished Mac about six months ago, and had been struggling with it for some time. But I thought it was just the newness, and canva had recently done a massive update which other users are calling unusable, so it's taken me a while to identify what the problem for me really is.

This computer was purchased from a reputable company here in the uk.... hundreds of trust pilot reviews etc. I think they have sold hundreds of Macs, so you would think they know what they are doing? but maybe not. It is still under their warranty.

You have got me thinking now, and it feels a bit ominous...as I'm wondering if they used the tools you mention prior to sale?

If it was such tools that created this issue, is there something I can do, for example reinstall the system?

Or may it have received permanent damage?

Oh and yes, pages still operates in this way even when canva is not open. but could it be the case that multiple open pages affects the problem?

For example YouTube?

I will shut down and reboot this morning too.

I appreciate you offering your advice very much.

Thanks again.
