jpeg files preview in Finder are all square when loaded through Google Drive

but no solution was found, I searched in many other conversations and it is now clear that this only happens when you preview folders from Google Drive, if I copy the same photos and add them to my normal mac photo folder they look normal, and you can see landscape and portrait formats without having to click the photo in the preview window.

However, our company uses Google Drive and I work daily from it loading files online directly through the Google Drive Stream folders that appear in Finder. We do not work offline and this is a big issue on mac. All photos appear in square format so you can't quickly tell what's landscape and portrait. There is no such issue on PC but I'm switching to Apple now and this has already affected our productivity.

Has anyone found a solution on this please ?

Apple does not alter its operating system design to accommodate vendors who do not make their cloud or software solutions compatible with macOS. That is Google's responsibility in the case of Google Drive. There are either features in Windows or Google has made Drive image viewing more compatible with Windows than macOS.

As I see it, you can:

Have Sonoma 14.7 installed to see if that improves the Google Drive image viewing.
Ensure that if you are using the Google Drive app on your Mac, it is the current release.
Get the Drive images on your Mac for proper viewing dimensions.
Use Microsoft's replacement application for Remote Desktop (Windows App) from the Mac App Store to access Microsoft Windows desktop from your Mac and deal with Drive images there where you have reported they view correctly.
