Mac OS lion / internet recovery not working

I have got a MacBook Pro from 2010 which ran Mac OS lion and at one point it didn’t update so I switched to windows 7 but deleted the partition for Mac OS lion.

I now want to now go back to Mac OS on it but I can’t and I accidentally deleted windows 7.

I tried using internet recovery then it says “your computers eligibility will be verified with Apple” then it fails and I tried downloading a windows 7 file from internet archive on Firefox but that fails (this is on another computer - btw).

what else can I do with a Mac OS Catalina desktop and a Ubuntu desktop (which I have).

the reason you get the message you did is that you are asking to RE-Install, but did not proffer an acceptable Apple-ID (because your Mac has been erased).

Your Mac likely shipped with 10.6.3, which is NOT available for re-install, it occurs ONLY on release DVDs. Your Mac can run anything form that to MacOS 10.13 High Sierra.

There is a very slim possibility that you could invoke the Recovery RE-Installer using Command-Shift-Option-R. That likely will not work, but is worth a try. The principle is that it installs the factory-original MacOS for this Mac, or the closets still available, and therefore does not require an Apple-ID to install that version.

Post back with your updates.
