What are the limitations of using AirPods Pro 2 as hearing aids?

I see my issue is not new. This is troubling, as NOW Apple publicly declare these expensive AirPods I purchased to use as hearing aids are the answer. It is upsetting there is no solution posted, and that my new AirPod Pro 2 using iOS 18.0.1 on my iPhone 14 Plus works no better than the one the others in this discussion are struggling with. Have we not paid enough for this tech to expect better?

Best information is sometime this fall, but I believe something will happen close to the 26th of this month when Apple may release more announcements. Anyway, I think this is the page to watch.
