iPhone 16 Pro USB-C not working with Apple CarPlay

I’ve got a 2022 Lexus without the USB-C charging port so I had to buy a USB c to USB adaptor and it doesn’t recognize adaptor needed to work CarPlay. Therefore, the CarPlay doesn’t work. I didn’t have this issue with that lightening port adaptor for iPhone 14. So that tells me it’s the new USB c charging cord. I was told Apple sells adaptors for this, but why do we need to buy additional adaptors after the expensive phone to see if that will maybe resolve the issue. If it does work, Apple needs a fix it allow credit for the purchase of the adaptor. Apple needs to

do better! iPhone 16 charging code doesn’t work CarPlay in cars without a supporting Usbc port. Adaptors don’t work nor should the customers have to buy additional parts and pieces to make it work!

The description for Apple's USB-C to Lightning Adapter states it works with CarPlay for "most" cars. It also provides a link to this article, which recommended using a direct connection with a USB-A to USB-C cable when problems are encountered using an adapter or for cars that only support wired CarPlay. They referenced a Belkin cable that unfortunately is no longer available through the Apple Store, but easy to find elsewhere.

I am researching options for connecting my new iPhone to CarPlay. Since Apple states there may be issues using an adapter I will try purchasing an USB-A to USB-C cable for my 2020 Subaru Outback.

I ordered both the USB-C to Lightning Adapter and a Nimble PowerKnit 0.75m USB-A to USB-C Cable from Apple.

Both worked with my 2020 Subaru Outback with no problems. I prefer the cable, over the adapter and old cable, for the car since it is much shorter.

I plan to use the adapter with my old USB Superdrive and other peripherals.
