You don't say where you're looking. I think that the only place that you are restricted to 5 across is in the initial view of the Main Window where it says "Photos" at the top.
But if you scroll up to see more of the Library, it says "Library" at the top and you can pinch the screen to get other odd-numbers rows, like 5, 3 or 1 across. Or "many."
Playing around, I find that after you switch from Library back to Photos, it seems to stay the same:
What view were you talking about?

To the best of my knowledge, you can't. That's the new layout and I do not believe that there's any way to change it, not on the main screen. If you go to an Album or Pinned collection, that will show photos in rows of three.
Regards.

I'm not sure pinching to change the size of the picture is a change at all. And, of course, you just just use View Options>Zoom
Then again, any system as massive as the iPhone OS has lots of little things to discover. I don't know about you, but I don't read all of Apple's documents before I start playing with a new phone, so I don't even know what it is that they "never tell us." I mostly just fiddle with it to learn how it works-- it's pretty intuitive-- and then I ask people here, for help…
You have to click ‘select’ like you are selecting a number of photos then zoom in/out from there. If you zoom without clicking select it will just zoom into the photo your finger originally captured.
Yes you can. Just by pinching them down to your desired size. Ty ty_lerr
Why does Apple always change little things like this and never tell us, never put out an update of what things are gonna be changed exactly. And everybody… millions of iPhone users… just have to figure it out on their own.
It’s a pain in the ***!
THANKYOU ! It worked. You are absolutely right
