Warranty and Apple Care for a U.S. device used in Germany

Hi everyone! :)

I'm currently traveling the world, and my Windows laptop was stolen, so it's time for an upgrade. The U.S. is my next stop, so I’m planning to buy a MacBook there. I’ll be returning to Germany, my home country, on December 31st this year, and I’d like to understand how warranty and AppleCare work for a device purchased in the U.S. and used in Germany.

If I don't buy AppleCare but something happens that is covered under the U.S. Apple One-Year Limited Warranty, will Apple in Germany repair it as if I were in the U.S.?

I read on the German AppleCare website that AppleCare can be purchased within 60 days of buying the device. If I buy the MacBook on November 5, 2024, in the U.S., can I purchase AppleCare "for Germany" on January 1, when I’m back in Germany?

Thanks! :)

Hi,

One year limited warranty is international, though it's limited service where you are like following.

If the product is portable, meaning that it can operate independently without a power cord, you may obtain warranty service worldwide. However, service will be limited to the options available in the country where service is requested.

AppleCare+ is also International, so you can receive warranty service even when you are staying abroad.

But be sure AppleCare and AppleCare+ is different.
