Unable to text my Mother to her Android phone from my iPhone 13 post iOS 18 update.

Where do you see this fix on Apple Support? I’m just seeing links to discussions.

Not sure if anyone mentioned it but disable RCS and it’ll send as sms

My experience has been that it works for one on one messaging, but within group texts where you have non-iOS users, all of those messages are hidden when RCS is disabled. It's bizarre.

Alright, updated to 18.1.1 and it DID NOT fix the issue. This is what ATT told me would fix it. Thats not true.

Did you ever figure out how To send messages to your husband’s phone I cannot send any messages to anybody that has an android phone since I updated. I am so curious about this!

I eliminated this issue by throwing my iPhone 14 in the river.

Went to my carrier and they said it is not their problem. I spent over an hour on the phone with Apple care and they said MMS is a carrier issue so i should try changing sim card and last resort back up and restore the phone

It worked!! OMG thank you so much!! I was going crazy trying to figure out how to correct this issue!! It’s a shame you have to create separate contacts for someone who has both an android and an apple device. Never had this issue prior to the IOS 18.1 update!

Hello, I am having similar or same issue not able to send text to so far two different phone numbers. Did almost everything. Our carrier doesn’t support RCS messaging. The point is that mms can be sent. This is happening since update to ios 18.

Has anyone had a fix for this. It’s just with one number. That my messages get sent to there email. I’ve now fully factory reset my phone. And down all the Apple support stuff. And on my carriers end too. Some things work. Then stop. But as of rn. iOS 18 is a major letdown

I updated my 12 pro max software (iOS 18.0.1) and my family group chat is out of order. One family member does have a iphone (latest device) and the other has a Samsung. From my phone, it goes out as a group text. Then on my phone I have additional outgoing messages to these same people. When then reply, I end up with two individual texts. There is nothing online that really helps to solve the issue. Sick of all the updates! Sick not having enough space on my ipad for a update and I don't have but 1 game on my ipad. I have to delete all texts and still not enough room for these updates. Going back to Samsung.

i called Apple support and they say it is a carrier issue. I go to ATT they tell me it is an apple issue. still no resolution. Apple suggested a new sim card from carrier and carrier won't give out a ew SIM

Open the settings app. Search for iMessage. Then turn it off then on again. Then navigate to the botton the Message context app until you see RCS Messaging. Select that and then turn it off. Go back to the main message app and turn off / on the message app. This worked for me.

I was having the same issue. A senior tech at Apple told me to call my phone carrier and request them to reconfigure my SMS settings. It took them two minutes to do, and everything went back to normal.

We had a text thread of 17 people yesterday and some of the people couldn’t get the messages. Some were Android and some Iphone. A couple of people had not updated to ios 18. Once they did, everyone was able to get the texts.
