Visual Message Notifications Not Working on CarPlay with iOS18 and iPhone 16 Max Pro

I recently updated to iPhone 16 from an iPhone 12, with the update to iOS18. I use my phone with my Ford Expedition with CarPlay. Since I updated to the new phone and iOS, I am no longer getting visual notifications on CarPlay that I have received a text message. When I have the phone unplugged, I get text notifications on my phone and my apple watch. When I plug in my phone, I no longer get notifications on my watch or phone and the visual notification no longer shows up on my car screen. This was working with my old iPhone just fine before the update.

I checked, and do not have driving focus set up or turned on, so that's not doing it. I have been trying to find info online and struggling to find troubleshooting here. To be clear, I'm not trying to get siri to read me my full messages, just trying to get the visual notification that I received a text from a person (without the message itself). Thanks!

Well, my iPhone 14 Pro has the same problem running iOS 18.01. Thought the update to .01 would fix it. Same problem on my CarPlay in my 23 MDX and 23 Genesis. I do not understand why more people have not come forward regarding this issue.

Yes! I have been searching all day on the web and my phone for a solution. I have iPhone 14 w/ iOS 18.01

My CarPlay will make a sound for a text message but no Visual notification. Actually not true 1 person who texts me comes thru visually. Why?

I have the same issue on my iPhone 15 Pro Max running iOS 18.1. The only time I get a visual now is if I have CarPlay showing on the head unit (e.g. using Apple Music or Apple Maps). I used to get the visual notification as long as CarPlay was running and connected, but not since the iOS 18 update.

So I’m still having the issue. Reported to Apple and they made me Reset everything still no help. Ugh! Correction to my above comment is that the 1 person whose text I “saw” was because I was using Apple Music.
