Hello, I have set my default folder for downloads from safari in an external drive in my iMac. But when its pdf its cannot get downloded.
iMac 24″, macOS 15.0
I downloaded firefox and works great. Just safari doesn't work well if you change the download file

But not being used for Time Machine right?
Do a Get info on the external drive, unlock the lock in the Get Info panel. Make sure it says you have Read & Write privileges.
Using the tiny gear icon, use the drop down to "Apply to enclosed items...
Thanks for the response. No for Time Machine. External drive works fine in all other tasks, just when a pdf file has to be downloaded before opened then I cannot download it. I have to change the default file again to macOS downloads.
Is the drive being used for anything else?
