iPhone 16 Pro + iOS 18, AirTags missing and won't add

Setup an iPhone 16 Pro with iOS 18, restored my my previous iPhone 15 Pro. Just noticed all my AirTags are gone from Find My. And I'm unable to add them back. Holding them near the phone doesn't work, and manually adding with the Add Item in FindMy doesn't find them. Tried "rebooting" an AirTag by opening and closing it (it beeps), but no luck. (I know the AirTag batteries are good. In fact, some were just replaced this week.)

okay, i was able to manually add them all back after resetting each (power cycle five times). doesn’t explain how they all got removed from Find My to begin with. Must be a migration bug.

umm… so how did you reset what five times? Did you reset your phone five times? Reset the airtag power off and on five times by doing what? Did you remove the battery five times from the AirTag?

What I mean is I reset each AirTag, which involves removing and replacing the battery multiple times to trigger a reset.

Ditto. After resetting the airtag about 5 times it connected. As did other airtags that were missing. Thanks for the tip.
