iPhone 16 Pro Max Screen Unresponsive

Is anyone else noticing their iPhone 16 pro max being unresponsive sometimes when touching the screen, typing, swiping.

Im not even using a screen protector and it’s like it. Makes things seem really laggy sometimes.

Did not expect it on a brand new iPhone.

I have noticed typing on the keyboard sometimes just doesn’t register letters or the space bar. I took it to Apple, ran diagnostic tests and there wasn’t anything wrong. It is extremely laggy and doesn’t pick up key entries. Pls fix!

16 pro max in Desert Titanium 256GB here. I’m having the same issue. When I type I miss keys, when I like a video it takes a few taps to register, and swiping is inconsistent. Seems to be all on the right side too. Coming from a super responsive but dying 13 pro max, this is getting aggravating! I’ve called Apple support, they’ve run diagnostics and the hardware passed. Going to an Apple Store tomorrow. I’m hoping this is a software issue and we get an update before my return period is up.

So I went by an Apple Store finally. Got my phone diagnosed as well as had it gone over by one of the Apple Genius’ there. The only thing they recommended me to do for the device is to completely factory reset and start my device fresh by not restoring my backup. They say it may have been an issue with my iPhone 13 Pro Max just hidden in the background.

So I did the reset, and nothing. It did nothing. Now I’m still struggling with the same screen issues and ontop of it I’m locked out of Microsoft Authenticator for my work.

Apple. Come on. This is getting crazy.

I have the iPhone 16 pro max. Scrolling one handed on apps with my thumb only on the screen will frequently not register the swipe. I have confirmed this is and issue on iOS 18. I have done two complete resets, issue is still present. This isn't and issue on my iPhone 15 pro max. This is annoying and needs a fix before the return window closes.

I have done the 18.0.1 iOS update and I haven’t noticed a difference. The screen is still incredibly laggy and sometimes totally unresponsive (particularly right hand side of

screen when trying to send WhatsApp messages, and top left when pressing a “back” arrow in an app). I pre-ordered my device so gutted as am sure I am now outside of the return window. 😩

I have summarised the problem to 3 issues which a lot of people were facing, which one do you have ?

Issue A : Touch screen does not react to taps or swipes intermittently (repeated tap/swipe required).

Issue B : Touch feels laggy. It reacts but not immediately (most noticeable when typing quickly on the keyboard).

Issue C : Parts of the screen near the edges never react to touch input (the right part of P or backspace button on keyboard near the edge of the screen)

I am on my third iPhone 16 Pro Max. All with identical behavior. I have been able to demonstrate it to genius bar and they have not known what to do other than give me a new phone. I am now working with Apple support and I am working with a senior advisor and doing things like sending log files and videos of the behavior. I just sent a batch of log files yesterday and I'm waiting to hear back.

My suggestion is for you to call. Apple support and ask for a senior advisor and offer to send a video of the behavior and log files. Don't let them tell you it's not a problem because it is. If you do this, it will reinforce the fact that they have a problem to deal with.

I can give you a case number to reference if you need it, but if you ask them to search their knowledge base they should come up with something acknowledging they are dealing with an issue.

Good luck
