iPhone Touch Screen not working- after IOS 18 UPDATE

Follow this solution : iPhone screen frozen on emergency screen - Apple Community

IMPORTANT - keep holding side button PAST “Slide to power off” screen after about 15 seconds the Apple Logo will appear and the phone will reboot.

Fixed my unresponsive screen immediately (I searched a long while and got stuck on the slide to power off screen until I found the above Hard Reset solution.

I also have this issue on iPhone 11 Pro max.. happened after upgrading to IOS 18 😭

Called apple support and they told me that they are not responsible and wanted money to fix it!!

this is happening to me on the 16 pro as well. There’s definitely a bug that they haven’t fixed even with 18

I also have the same issue. Did you push through with the Display Screen replacement? and if you did, was it able to address the issue? The cost of the display screen replacement is hefty here in our country and I would like to know at least if it works before proceeding. Thank you! Your answer would be of great help.

I've also been having this issue, even after the second update last night. As crazy as this sounds, the only way I can get my touchscreen to respond is knocking on 3 times. Ridiculous, I know. But out of frustration, I decided to knock on my phone, exclaiming, "Is anyone home?!" and the touchscreen responded. It definitely doesn't fix the issue but it gets me into my phone. Not sure why it's working that way but it works for me. I sure hope they figure it out soon bc my wife doesn't seem to enjoy being woken up to me knocking on my phone in the middle of the night.

Had this same issue I believe, after my son upgraded his Iphone 15 to IOS18 his touchscreen began working sporadically even though I was perfectly fine just beforehand.

Apple Store said it was hardware, they take the device for repair, we come back in a hour and now the screen is physically broken(big white lines all over the screen) and they are saying it’s not covered by warranty and we will have to buy a new phone!

This iPhone 15 was only 10 months old! We argue but it basically boils down to Apple is huge, and can do whatever they want to us and we can’t stop them, and if argue further we will be escorted out.

so now I have a completely broken phone, and 36 more monthly payments to Verizon for an entirely new IPhone 15! (I am actively paying for 2! iphone 15s now for the next 26 months!!!)

After updating to 18.0.1 I have been facing touch screen issues more often on iPhone 16, before updating I didn’t observe this issue. Strangely this is opposite of the bug and its fixes for 18.0.1 version.

Same thing happened to my 12 pro max, absolute pristine condition, no problems with it at all until the update. Factory reset it and restored the whole thing and still hasn’t fixed it.

only thing I can think that’s happened is the update isn’t compatible with the older models and they aren’t sure how to fix it. Something similar has happened before and they released an update straight after for the older models to fix the issue but it hasn’t worked this time

iOS 18.1.1

I have this, or a very similar problem, too. When my phone is switched on, the touch display becomes unresponsive. I am being asked to input my password through the keyboard, but, of course, the touch screen is locked. I've tried the hard reset route shown here, and on a few videos, but after pressing the volume up and down buttons on the left side, pressing the right-hand button just activates Siri. Doh!

I've tried resetting my iPhone via my MacBook and the Music app, but it says my iPhone is locked.

Other than letting my iPhone fully discharge and reset itself, I cannot think of a fix to this frustrating problem.

Any other ideas?

I don’t have any issue on IOS 18 or 18.1 but after I update it to iOS 18.1.1, the touch screen frozen while charging, nothing can be activated including entering the passcode. Once I pull off the charging cable, it works fine. I realize my phone has lagging issue while typing too. I’m using iPhone 15 pro max.

Btw, I have same issue with my iPad with iOS 18.1.1

This doesn't work for me—and I've tried it multiple times. My right-hand button just activates Siri in my case after I press and hold it continuously, having previously pressed the volume up and down buttons.

The lock screen is showing, and the phone is locked.

i had this same problem! doing that force restart w/o using the screen but just holding down the side button longer fixed it.
