Notes App lagging after iOS 18 Update

Omg! My Notes are terrible!!! I have been entering copies of recipes and most of the “ copy” is off screen, it’s as if one page turned into two pages without the ability to “ View” all of it.

How can this be fixed?

You take something you put it back as you found it= You change something You warrant that change but in essence, put it back so it’s like it was before but BETTER NOT WORSE…

I was hoping 18.1 would resolve but still no go. So slow typing in notes it’s crazy. No idea how such a simple app could be so disrupted. I have used for years and only with iOS 18 did this issue emerge. Frustrating.

None of the possible workarounds mentioned in this topic helped me. Well 18.1 is out a couple of days now and I can report something has changed, but the issue is surely not fixed. Individual notes still open and close way too sluggish.

Notes is still unusable. New notes hang and prevent any user input. When I try to create a note, multiple blank notes are created. Now my notes app is cluttered with dozens of blank notes.

Notes is a mission-critical app on the iphone. It's the one place where you write anything down until you organize it later. It seriously cannot fail without taking the entire phone down.

After making phone calls, this is the single most important app. It is the app that supports every other app.

Hello, did you use Handwritten Notes perhaps? I am still wondering, if there is any possible way of creating collapsible sections in between handwritings. Seems like notes does not provide that feature as far as I have seen. If you found a way, please let me know. I have huge handwritten notes and that would help a lot:)

I deleted the Notes app. Then reinstalled and allowed all my notes (1002) to load. It didn’t work for me.

Am I right in understanding that if you create a note of 130,000 characters on an iPhone (iOS 18.1), then there are no lags when editing it?

Even with the IOS 18.1 update Apple Note is still broken. I see this is a known issue, what is Apple waiting for ?

All notes that are a little too long start to slow down a lot when typing. Using Apple Note heats up the phone and uses up the battery quickly.

I can't work properly any more and I urgently need to fix this problem. What is Apple doing ?

I use Notes app as a journal and have an extremely long note with all of my journaling and words in it. Can’t access it on my Ipad, like, at all. It works on my phone NOW, but it was lagging a lot earlier. No idea why.

I have some large notes, but the most annoying thing is the 12 second lag when I open a new blank note before it can actually type in it.

WTF? Why does Notes+iCloud care how many kb (and we are talking kb here) my other notes are when I create a new one? Somebody messed something up.

You have the same macbook air M1,2020 and Iphone 12 that I have. So that shows that it is not just our own notes app that is messed up .

It shows that it is the APPLE COMPANY'S NOTES APP developers ( or whatever you call the employees that make the apps and make the updates.

So far, I have not received ANY information from Apple Notes App developers as to what I can do to fix the Notes app problems .

Has anyone else heard from the developers for an answer?

Concerning me, I have done so. To date I have not been given a solution, no. I hope that everyone having this problem has also opened a support case with Apple to kinda highlight this issue -as obviously not everybody suffers from this.

Good point. I hoped I had single identifiable notes, but i don’t. The app lags as a whole. However I frequently experience kinda strange behaviour in „newly“ formatted (e.g. folded / unfolded parts) notes as well.

Notes was my go to for sending out music manuscripts to my colleagues for years. I used to be able to scan and send up to 17 pages of sheet music in one note. Now it is refusing to send even one page, claiming it is too big a file. PLEASE RESTORE THE OLD NOTES.
