how do I disable automatic window resizing in Sequoia

Since updating this morning when I move windows around on my cinematic display they JUMP to full screen if I even get close to the top of the screen. How do I make this STOP!

Disable the Tiling options in System Settings > Desktop & Dock > Windows.

@dialabrain It's a Sequoia issue in any case. Why would Dell's DDPM software start behaving differently from how it did for more than a year?

I'm not blaming Apple for this, but any major change can have inadvertent consequences.

The lesson to learn is to look at edge cases, too. It doesn't help telling people "it works for me and everyone else" when they might have different setups.

I disabled that as soon as I got this version. I have turned off everything that I can find and I still can't get my desktop windows to work right. I have no idea why Apple believes that the only way we will love their x-dates is by turning them on and not mapping how to turn them off. If this were an airplane it would not fly.

I did that long ago - but it did NOT help. For some reason my browser windows, Xcode windows, BBEdit windows suddenly "maximized" when I mistakenly dragged the windows too close to the top or left/right edge of the screen.

Only when I completely turned off EVERYTHING there ("Tile by dragging windows to screen edges", "Hold option key while dragging windows to tile" and "Tiled windows have margins") -- only then the dreaded "feature" seems to stop.

Well, I can assure you, based on almost 40 years of macOS experience, that lately (last few years) some features ar shoved down our throat, some disappearing again after loads of complaint.

This one is not a bug I guess but intentionally put there, but I hope it is and it will be repaired in the next issue

but how will an app that seems to do the same and costs money on top of that help me to get rid of the tiling al together? I want the 'old' function of option-klick the green button, which sizes the document to its size, and no more. That function has disappeared (see other post for screenshots)

Is there maybe a possible command through Terminal to switch this off??

You are not crazy, Paul2727! I have the very same behavior here – Drag windows to menu bar to fill screen will not stay disabled, no matter how many times I toggle it off.

Never mind that it's not at all intuitie to even find these settings in System Settings. How do these Windows features fit under Desktop and Dock??

What the problem is here is that this feature cannot be switched off, even when all the appropriate sliders are in the 'off' state!

(Sorry … Dutch)

I cannot really simulate the old state with the green button (… it has disappeared), but the current state DOES look like it could be a bug, or at least a design error: both state ar similar, with or without the +

There a few posts that say Dell monitor software causes window tiling. Perhaps you have something installed that is doing it or re-enabling it. It seems the vast majority of users have no issues turning it off.

Hold the Option key while hovering over the green pill button and select the option to get out of that mode(?)

for your app window.

or as suggested above turn off the tiling features in Settings.
