Siri refuses to control Homekit accessories in iOS 18

Setup:

Various rooms throughout my Homekit setup. For instance, Play Room, Bedroom, Dining Room, etc.

Each room contains a Light. Named "Light" instead of "Bedroom Light" because it shows up better in Home.

In iOS17, I could tell Siri "turn off the Bedroom light" and it would do so.

Since iOS18, with the same prompt, Siri pulls up a list of rooms and tells me to choose one. Responding with voice doesn't even work..so I have to tap the correct choice (thus defeating the point of Siri).

Is this a known issue? Do I have to rename all of my lights?

You don’t need to rename all of your lights. Try asking Siri on another device to test if it does indeed work. This is a temporary issue with Siri where it does that sometimes. Yes it’s annoying to keep hearing “which room”. I’ve had which room when asking about the weather! Then I say nevermind or disregard and it says ok I cancelled your timer. You can try restarting HomePod by unplugging for 10 seconds to see if it works again. You will find that it does eventually go back to working again.

If it continues to be bothersome you can submit Feedback - HomePod - Apple
