Finding very heavy battery drain with this update. From 9am to 10am lost 10% battery. Usually at 7pm I would have 65-70% battery left. Sitting at 50% right now.

Terrible battery drain after updating watchOS 11 on apple watch series 7. The apple watch goes from 100% to 84% in less than 1 hours. In 8 hours, the apple watch is running out of charge. Worst of all, this is using it as normal watch, not playing music, not tracking any sports or activity from workout app, just putting in my wrist to use it as a normal watch.
Has anyone had any luck with apple support on this? my aw6 drained a fully charged battery in just over 3 hours...it has been like that since the OS11 update.
So far support says they aren't aware of any issues and have me doing things like low power mode which have no improving effect.
This is a significant concern, and it seems that Apple isn't addressing it. I often hike for 8-10 hours and previously relied on my watch to track my activities. However, since updating to watchOS 11, the battery now lasts only about 5 hours, which disrupts my hiking records. It is impossible to recharche the battery in the middle of hiking! I am going to have to consider switching to a more reliable device that can sustain a longer battery life.
Update didn’t help. Still have to charge twice a day.
The recent update Watch OS 11.0.1 promised to fix this, but it has NOT. I have a Watch 9, almost new. This is not normal.
You cannot have actually read what people are experiencing here and written this answer. Massive battery drains in less than an hour. This is not at all normal or acceptable, and users should never have to factory reset your device to get an update to not kill the battery.

Wow, brutal. Did a 30 min walking workout. Now at 38% down from 50% at 7pm.
Unpairing and connecting my Ultra 2 stopped the battery drain after watchOS 11.0.1 for me, still hesitating to update to watchOS 11.1, since my battery life is at the level of 10.6.1 again.
Another users switched off Bluetooth on the watch and iPhone, which brought the battery life back to normal in his case:

Same issue after 11.0.1 of my ultra 2. Worst is overnight while sleeping and it goes from over 70% to 20%. I’m having to reeharfe almost daily where it would last 4 days usually with heavy use.
I’ve noticed this on my s7 it won’t last a day I used to still have 30-50 battery left b4 update.
but my 7 year old s3 still lasts a full day not updated
I turned off Live Activities and charged it last night. Considerably better. However it’s still draining faster than watchOS 10. I wish I could go back to watchOS 9. It was far superior. If it’s still bad, I’ll unpair and reinstall everything. But I am sceptical.
Well that could be a solution.
You cannot expect every user to search the internet for a solution. A user just needs to know what to look for. Perhaps they are looking for something else and come across like-minded people who then completely criticize an Apple watch.
Apple should just prevent this. Such a large company and you pay significantly more for their products that you should not expect. And if there is a problem, they have to solve it without a user having to look something up on the internet.
Unfortunately, this was also the case with iOS 10. You can assume that a watch will last for years without these kinds of problems. Or do they do this on purpose? This was also the case with the iPhone a few years ago?
But now I'm also speculating...
I have a series 8 and same thing... I use the watch only as a watch but a track my runs 4-5 times a week, the battery lasts from early morning to late night normally, but after the update, it was dry as the Gobi Desert by 2pm..
I have an Apple Watch 9, and have been losing battery power since the 11.0 update horribly. I charged it this morning, to 100% at 10:30 am. I haven’t even really used it today, and at 3:06 pm it is at 35%!!!!!! I have closed the background app refresh, and hope that helps. But what else can I do???
