Importing Music

I am on an early 2015 Macbook Pro and need to import some .m4a files to the Music app for a project. However, only about half of them went in, it says the others worked, but I cannot find them! When I try and ope the file itself, it only works when I use quicktime player, can someone PLEASE help with this?
