Os18 duplicate reminders in calendar

I upgraded to iOS and iPad os 18 yesterday on my iPhone 11pro and iPad Air 4. I like the reminders now in calendar, but I am getting duplicates. Example - “brush dog” scheduled for today at 11am repeat weekly. In Reminders it is correct. In Calendar there are two entries with one stating it repeats correctly as weekly and the other daily. I cannot mark either as completed without them showing back up. I also am unable to delete from the calendar app. I can delete the correct entry from Reminders, but the incorrect one, “daily”, doesn’t appear in reminders so……

what can be done?

Update to my problem. Got excellent solution from Apple Support.

  1. In Calendar deselect the Scheduled Reminders calendar
  2. in settings, go to iCloud and, under apps, deselect Reminders (and answer yes if asked ). Wait 15 seconds then re-select Reminders.
  3. Return to reminders and wait for your scheduled reminders to repopulate.
  4. You can now reselect Scheduled Reminders calendar in the Calendar app.

This solved my problem of duplicate/triplicate+ entries on my iPhone. I then repeated the steps on my iPad and the duplicates disappeared there too.

Update 2 !!!

that “excellent” solution lasted one day and then the duplicates started again as soon as I marked one completed or edited the reminder. They disappear if I do the “solution” again, but that gets old fast. Support person tells me it looks like it needs to addressed with an update .Hope that will be soon. I’ve turned off reminders in Calendar for now. Too distracting and frustrating.

I tried the pinned solution but it did not work for me...what did work was removing my reminders from a separate list I hand put them in and moving them to the default reminders list. My guess is calendar was pulling from both the custom and default list at the same time since anything put in the custom list also populates in the default list.
