Found this on another thread How to Stop Battery Draining on iPhone After a Recent IOS Update and it's been a game changer, battery which was reducing 20 to 30% in 1 hour of basic usage now reduces only 15%. I will update you on which adjustment helped alot as I am currently testing on it as I don't want to disable some features so will update soon here.

This is a common complaint after EVERY major update, along with "my phone is hot", just do a search. People don't understand that after an major update, there is a lot of work being done in the background for 12-36 hours, depending on the amount of data stored on your iPhone. Give it time to do it's work and you will see a return to normal. It's not a bug and it is nothing Apple "needs" to fix.

Issues started with iOS 17.5xx and continued with iOS 18. Battery is dying in front on my eyes even if all “hacks” to reduce battery consumption have been applied. Worst of all I had 98% battery health (maximum capacity in my 14 pro max) and almost one month after faulty upgrades max capacity went down to 94%.

Thank you apple…

What you are saying is generally true, however in my case, it goes way beyond simple background file indexing. My horrific usage of battery is tied directly to the Calendar app. It appears it is stuck in a cycle of trying to synchronize. I finally deleted the app, which solved the problem. Hopefully, after a reinstallation, things will return to normal.

Try turning off apps that run in the background unnecessarily. To do this go to settings>general>Background App Refresh, and turn off anything that doesn’t need to run in the background. For example, a social media app, home manager app (Like apple HomeKit or Google Home shouldn’t be running in the background, but an app like Bose connect, Siri, An antivirus app, adblocker, weather app like the weather channel, or smart news needs to run in the background in order for it to work properly. In addition to this, you can also disable any ad tracking features by opting out of them in privacy and security. The last step is to disable unnecessary notifications. You can do this by going to settings>Notifcations, and turn off anything that doesn’t need to send notifications. (Again, same deal with background app refresh, anything like an antivirus app, weather app, or social media app doesn’t need to send notifications, but the phone app, FaceTime, and news or FaceTime and Apple Tracking notifications do so keep those enabled.

I hope this helps.

Thanks, Caleb

I am also having the drainage issue after updating to iOS 18. What I’ve looked at is my background app refresh. You can turn this option off for each app running in the background. Settings>Apps (Apps is at the very bottom) There is also a setting called Clean Energy Charging. I’m going to test that too. Hope one of these options may help you. I’m in testing mode right now.
