Mine seem to be version 7a305 with no option for any updates. Is this going to be a problem?
The new hearing features will only be available on the AirPods Pro 2 and will be available via a software update in Fall 2024.
That feature is not out yet.
any news on the hearing test and hearing aid function for the airpod pro gen 2?
I have updated phone and airpods. this was all over the news a month ago and we are all still waiting. is there anyone who knows whats going on?
upgrade to ios and/or ipados v18
Firmware of case must be updated to 7A302 To update firmware, power on iphone or ipad, open case to pair and connect bluetooth case to device. Wait awhile and check to see if firmware was updated by touching “i” next to airpod Bluetooth connection.
If you do the above you will gain additional functions on your Airpod Pro2 BUT still no hearing aid. That will come with a ios 18 upgrade sometime soon. When you get it allow the hearing test to run and upon completion the hearing aid function will activate.
Fyi, the airpod pro2 function guide from Apple is terrible.
THIS WAS SO EASY. TURN ON AND PUT ON AIRPODS, GO TO SETTINGS, BLUE TOOTH, make sure airpods are connected, SELECT THE"i" to the right of airpods pro
select "take hearing test" and follow directions.
It was super easy and it works!! I reduced the volume on TV to less than half. I'm no longer asking for someone to repeat themselves constantly.
I updated the airpods previously so make sure that's up to date also.
Good luck. I think you'll be happy with this.
Was it included in the recent update on the Airpods?

The article you read somewhere was wrong. "Now what?" You have to wait for the update that will introduce the hearing aid function.

I don’t think the feature works if you have severe hearing loss
If you have the AirPod Pro 2s, your phone is updated to iOS 18.1 and you're in a region that supports it, you should have the option to take the hearing test. If you fall within the parameters that the feature supports, you'll be able to use it. You're correct in that it doesn't support severe hearing loss. Or, extremely minimal loss.
I did the test and came up with a deficient of a couple of decibels in each ear. The feature remains unavailable to me.
Thank you
Updated my phone just now and the hearing aid update seems to be included !!! I will update here when I can give real instructions. For now get the update. Wish me luck
