Error downloading macOS Sequoia

Today, when I was downloading to macOS Sequoia, I downloaded it, but then It says "Failed to personalize software update. Please try again later." "An error occurred while downloading the selected updates. Please check your internet connection and try again later." When seeing this. I restarted my laptop. I then tried again but It showed up with this. Then, I tried restarting my modem and router. After doing this. I tried to restart the upgrade. When doing so, it did the same thing.

Then I tried connecting it via ethernet, but it then did the same thing.

I then tried downloading it from the apple website, then it downloaded as an app. Then I tried to download it from there. That did not work. It showed the same error but without the "internet connection" part.

After that failed attempt, I tried making a bootable usb to boot into the installer. This did not work either. the same thing popped up.

I don't want to erase the disk and download sequoia from there in risk from loosing data. I have a backup on a hard drive but I am afraid of loosing data either way.

If anyone could help me with this problem I have a 2023 Macbook pro M3 14 inch

I find this a most dreadful and beyond poor service. My MacBook Air M3 is less than 6 days old. Not being able to update the laptop clearly shows the laptop is not "fit for purpose" I have received two telephone support instances whereby a number of attempted fixes were made to update the software - both to no avail. I have an appointment with the Genius Bar on Monday. I am not prepared to wait for up to 30 days for the software update to be fixed by apple and lose my option of a full refund.

This debacle falls well below the level service we should expect.

Disabling Beta Updates worked for me. If you are/were not running a beta then disregard this "fix".

I started seeing "failed to personalize" message about a week or so before Sequoia release date. I tried various fixes to no avail. When Sequoia released I disabled Beta Updates, waited a few minutes, then "updates" started downloading and this time it worked. Your situations may be different than mine, good luck!

Hello,

I was able to install it by Signing out of icloud fully with FindMy off, sign back in, THEN install via terminal command.

sudo softwareupdate -i -a -R

*I believe the issues is with the software update, it is falsely tripping the T2 chip into not letting the OS update. Another way to fix this is to fix the DCU. It is possible they may fix this in 15.2 or something if they care to notice.

Same issue 2019 inch MacBook Pro. Im starting to get really frustrated with Apple, the last update did the same thing to me before eventually working. This is getting worse than old windows devices. Every time I turn around it's something else. Now my Mac mail isn't working because of a new update from Microsoft. Not a peep from Apple about this and getting answers nowhere. Im starting to loose faith...

I agree with you 100%. Sequoia isn't even that big of a deal, from what I've read, to have to go through all that. I plan to wait; I am not going to fool around with any of my settings which possibly could cause additional problems. I'm familiar with Mac and its settings, but still, I don't want to try to fix something that's not broken on my end. Apple should be fixing this.
