How to remove reminders linked to Calendar?

I have upgraded to ios18 and iPad 18 and now my repeating reminders are in my calendar

I do not want this I want reminders and calendar to be totally separate as they were in ios17

I cannot see any way of doing this except to use google calendar app

If you open the calendar app, at the bottom of the screen you’ll see the word calendars. If you tap that, all the calendars you’ve created or subscribed to will show up. One of those will say “reminders”. If you click to turn that one off, the reminders will go away.

I only have the upgrade loaded on my iPhone and I don't know what you mean by sidebar. Maybe only the iPad has a sidebar. I did find the "Completed Reminders" option on the iPhone by clicking Calendars at the bottom of the Calendar app -- but that only turns of completed reminders, non all reminders which is what I want to do.

I went crazy yesterday trying to get the Reminders out of my calendar because everyone sent me to settings then the Calendar app within settings. That is wrong wrong wrong!. Just opened up your calendar with the app that’s on your home screen look at a month and at the bottom you’ll see the word calendar. Touch that and it will show you the different calendars. just uncheck scheduled reminders. That works.

You mean like I posted yesterday, complete with screenshot?

Thank you so much! You are a lifesaver. This has been bothering me since I updated my phone, idk why they thought to make that the default. Thank you.

Manufacturers frequently make new features defaults, because, as no one reads release notes, you wouldn’t know the feature was there if they didn’t make it obvious. And the reason the feature is there is because they received a sizable number of requests, some of the quite virulent, asking why the H*** doesn’t the iPhone show Reminders in the Calendar like Android does?

On my iPhone 11 the calendar started showing up with ads reminders from the same companies for the whole year. If I turn off the scheduled reminders they go away but if I try to add my own reminders they all come back. How to remove them but keep mine

Go to Settings/apps/calendar/accounts and delete the subscribed spam calendar.
