Is this possible? I am using Sonoma 14.6.1. It would be an easy upgrade path with a refurbished unit with dramatically more RAM than my current M1Pro.

To use the Mac Studio headless, you'd use Screen Sharing from the MacBook Pro to the Studio.
You have to first attach a display to the Studio to set things up, though.
It is very easy to turn on Screen Sharing: just go to System Settings->General->Sharing and turn it on:
Then as long as the two macs are in the same network, you will see the Studio as an option in the sidebar of Finder windows in the MacBook Pro. Click and choose Screen Share and there you are. You will be asked to login and then you will have the Studio screen right inside the Screen Sharing application on the MBP.
I suppose they could allow you to use a floor display to set it up. There should be no issues asking for help at an Apple Store. Might need to setup a Genius Bar appointment though.

But I believe you will still need an actual screen and keyboard to log in to the Mac Mini after its turned on again before universal control can be used.
Screen Sharing can be used from the log in screen though.
So you have to actually own a discrete screen to set up this before using the screen on the MBP?
What about using the keyboard and mouse on the macbook pro as the keyboard and mouse for the Studio?
Unless the M4’s are triple the speed of my m1Pro running Topaz and Affinity Photo, I’m not willing to come up with $3400 just for a little speed increase. But I could get a studio with a 4 x increase in RAM for less than one third of that which would work really well when I am not out an about, and don’t generally use those apps anyhow.
Could i have an apple store set this up for me to run automatically when the Mini/studio is on?
I want to use a mac studio, but use the keyboard, mouse, and display on my M1Pro.
