What settings will let me sync my iMac and iPad?

what settings will allow me to be in sync with iMac and iPad so that I can keep confidential files only on iPad

You can store notes for the Notes app exclusively on your iPad. To do so, go to Settings > Notes and activate “On My iPad” Account. You’ll then see a top level folder “On My iPad” in Notes.


Similarly, you can store files exclusively on your iPad. In the Files app, you should see a “On My iPad” location. If you don’t see it, tap the “…” icon, choose Edit Sidebar and activate “On My iPad”.
