You haven't been billed for anything. It's a scam to make you panic and respond. Then they'll ask for detailed account info to cheat you out of your money. The first clue is that it came from a Gmail account. IGNORE it, do not respond!!!!

It's a case of whack-a-mole. You can report it to Apple using the mail address I provided in my earlier response but frankly even if Apple can stop one (and I don't know how they can do that with text messages), another one will pop up. We are living in an age where you have to be a smart consumer and this is the 21st century version of cons who have been around for centuries.

Whack-a-mole.

The real way to stop them would be for email providers to charge something for every email sent. It would have to be a fairly hefty charge because even if only one in a thousand people fall for the scam, it is a worthy payoff for the scammers even if they had to pay for email. So you'd have to make it like 10c per email sent so it wouldn't be profitable for the scammers. Now you have to convince everybody in the world that they have to start paying per email sent. >:-) It's either that, or get people to learn about scams and how to avoid them. Not sure which would be harder.

"APPLE*STORE" for $223.49 via

Apple:Pay . To contact a representative, please call +1*******49

These **** messages is absolutely asinine and highly irritating to the point I honestly believe Apple is behind some of it! Same as slowing my phone down! I’m getting away from Apple altogether bc I’m just tired of the nonsense and changing my number too! No matter how many times this is reported nothing is done!

Here we are in the new year. Jan 9, 2025, and I got this scam today on my iPhone. I almost fell for it because my credit card got jacked last week, and YESTERDAY, I updated all my info with the new credit card. So, I already have PTSD from getting my life turned upside down. I thought, GREAT, what did I do incorrectly when entering the new credit card number that made me a victim again? I was so relieved when I saw this post.
