Word going super slow. Almost cannot use.

I have been using Word on my MacBook. I got it last year. I thought it would be cool to get it as my writing tool. Though, I have a 32 Cintiq pro, which would give me a larger view. haha Anyway, I have been writing a book for a year or so. I have nearly 300,000 words written. I downloaded the updates on my MacBook for Office and maybe the Mac OS. Since then, Officer has not been working well. The curser takes a while to blink. I write and at times, it takes a second to appear. The only thing I do on that Mac, is write. Nothing else. Office is all I have installed. But, I install Audacity a few days ago. That is when the problems started. I have since deleted it. But, I cannot write. Even when I go to save, I cannot click on File. It takes a minute or two.

Any ideas?

As an aside, be sure to back up your Mac: Back up your files with Time Machine on Mac - Apple Support.

If you don't back up your Mac, it means you don't care about the possibility of spontaneously and permanently losing all the information on it. 300,000 words would be a lot of work to lose.

I doubt Audacity had anything to do with your MS Word problems, but the mere fact there appears to have been some correlation should give you pause. Maybe something else is going on. Back up your Mac.
