I need to copy files from one folder to another and to do so I used to open twice the HD in doble windows to make it easy but after I reinstalled with time machine I can not open two HD windows however in the other 15' macbook I can have, I get two HD windows by clicking twice the icon. I can not find how, will appreciate any ideas. Thank you.

Go to the Finder menu and select "File --> New Finder Window".
If you open a Finder window by double-clicking the HD icon on the Desktop, then doing it again will just refocus onto the already open Finder window. I think if you navigate to another folder in that first Finder window, then you could double-click on the HD icon on the Desktop which would open a second Finder window.
Edit: Or you could use the shortcut keys Command + N to open a new Finder window.
Bad news HW, just to make things clear.
In my 15' macbook the first time you open a HD window you have to select any folder before clicking the HD icon again, in order to open a new HD window and you can open as many HD windos by doing so.
But in my other mac when I select any folder in the HD window it just moves to that folder even if you select any other folder it does the same thing and in no way you can have another HD window.
Which is very useful when coping files.
