Macbook connects to NEW home wifi, then internet stops working even though Wifi signal remains.

We got new broadband/wifi provider in home. Two other MacBooks, two other iPads and 3 other iPhones all connect to new wifi successfully AND remain connected to the internet without issue. Some of those other devices are mine, and still without issue, so this is unique to my Macbook only. We've even had friends visit and connect and work all day on the new wifi.

Also worth noting, the sometimes my connection stays for a few hours or for a few minutes. To get reconnected, I simply have to disconnect wifi, and then reconnect and it works again right away, but just for a few minutes most of the time. To edit this post, I had to disconnect and reconnect to finish.

My Macbook worked fine connected to our previous wifi provider before this new wifi router was connected, and I have not changed anything on my Macbook. I have searched internet, and follow instructions on releasing DHCP, restarting, and made sure I have the latest os version installed on my Macbook, but the issue continues to happen. I can't find any other instructions on what to try. Any suggestions on why this is happening and what I can do stay connected again?

Troubleshooting WiFi on a Mac:

A. Boot into Safe Mode:

When you boot into Safe Mode, items load by default, with certain settings and caches set aside. Go here: Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support

B. Single-Out this User:

For temporary use, create a new administrator, seeing if you still get this error. If so, then it is an error in the macOS. If so, then it is an error with the current user. So, what you would do is trasnfereverything over to this new user, and then trash this current user.

C. Add Back the Connection:

Remove the connection from your Mac, and then add it back. Make not of the features of your connection, and then add it back with this same info.

C. Report this to Apple:

Do your Part: Inform Apple of your feedback of this issue. Include how you’ve troubleshot this, and your results. Apple wont get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive from its users, the more likely they will know what needs to be fixed, and what their customers prefer in updates, and future macOS versions to come. Apple will know nothing of your occurrence, if you do not report it to them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - macOS - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Select: "Software/Firmware Update" for the "Feedback Area"
  4. Comment: that is all occurred after installing an update, and how you have troubleshot this this far. Include the URL of this thread.
  5. Proceed from there as necessary
