Money stuck in apply pay

My friend tried to reimburse me for a ticket. She sent it via apply pay. I had to download Apple Pay bc I have not used it in years. I transferred the money to my bank account. Only after I did I realize that the money went to my old bank account/ bank account that’s no longer valid.

as a result, I did not receive the money. My friend said the money she tried to send me is “ stuck in Apple Pay” and she can’t get it back.

what can be done? How can my friend get her own money released from her Apple Pay and back into her bank account?

Apple Pay is not something you can download. So not sure what you did.

Apple Pay is a payment conduit used in stores and websites that support it through the built in Apple Wallet app, it cannot be used to send or receive money itself.

Do you mean Apple Cash? Also, a part of the Apple Wallet app, and also, not something you can download but if that's what your friend used (only available in the US) and you accepted that money transfer, then you need to manually send the money back.

If you did download something, it was not Apple Pay and as such your issue would be with whoever makes that app you did download or whatever your friend actually used.

I turned it off previously because anytime I texted a dollar amount like "This this is $12" Apple would automatically assume "send or request" $12 in my text. I found that annoying which is why i deactivated Apple Cash.

If the money has been accepted into your Apple Cash account, then you need to send it back manually.

Whatever else, may be going on with the bank account you have added to your Apple Cash, will need to be dealt with separately.

If the bank account it was transferred to by you is no longer active, it should revert as mentioned shortly, and you can then add a new bank account to your Apple Cash to correctly transfer it to.
